One person was killed and another airlifted to a St. Louis hospital after a truck pulled out in front of a motorcycle on the Great River Road on Monday.  The accident claimed the life of 58 year old Keith Berry of Caseyville, and critically injured a passenger, 55 year old Deborah Sereday also of Caseyville.

Illinois State Police report around 1pm Monday the motorcycle was traveling northbound on the River Road (Route 100) when a truck driven by 24 year old Michael Heitzig of Jerseyville pulled in front of the motorcycle from Lockhaven Road while trying to cross the highway.  The motorcycle hit the truck and the two victims on the bike were ejected.  Berry was pronounced dead at the scene, while Sereday was airlifted by Survival Flight to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.  Heitzig was ticketed for failure to yield at an intersection.  The crash closed the highway for about three hours with the Jersey County Sheriff's Department, QEM Fire and Rescue and IDOT assisting the Illinois State Police at the scene.
