A Godfrey man has been seriously injured and a Troy, Illinois woman killed in a crash early Saturday morning. According to an incident report from the Missouri Highway Patrol, 53-year-old Lisa R. West crashed just before 1am on northbound U.S. 67 just south of the Lewis Bridge that crosses the Missouri River.

She apparently traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck the concrete median barrier, coming to rest facing the wrong way. Her car was then hit nearly head on by a car driven by 34-year-old Christopher W. Michael. He was airlifted to St. Louis University Hospital. West was pronounced dead at 1:35am. The highway was closed for several hours during the rescue, recovery and clean-up.
