The Village of Godfrey holds its own Independence Day party this year with fireworks at dusk and the annual Family Fun Fest later today. The event is mostly free, with the exception of any food and drink you'd like to purchase, or you can make it a picnic and bring out the family before the fireworks show around 9:15.
Park and Recreation Director Kimberly Caughran says most of the activities will cost you nothing:

There are a few paid attractions including some carnival games, and a dunking booth featuring coaches from the little league, and that is 3 throws for $1 which will benefit the Make a Wish Foundation. They'll also reveal the Corn Maze design tonight after 6:00, and the ball season awards will be handed out at 6:30. Godfrey's Got Talent will be on stage at 8pm, and contestants are welcome to sign up at the event. The fireworks will begin around 9:15. If you park at the ball fields to watch the fireworks, that concession stand will be open for spectators along with the concession stand near the corn maze.
