No injuries were reported after the façade on the former Wood River Schnucks store sustained a partial collapse late Monday afternoon. The building faces Illinois Route 111, and Wood River Fire Chief Steve Alexander says the overhang that resembles an arched porch came down just before 5pm.

Alexander says a cause is unknown at this point, but would suspect there may have been a leak around the roof that caused the structure to fail. A Goodwill store is located in one part of the building, but the area of the collapse has most recently housed Cummins Tools store and a Surface Direct store.
