Once construction begins at the Madison County Jail, extra accommodations will need to be made due to the sensitive nature of the job.  Security policies will have to be established as work begins, according to the sheriff, who says the jail is deteriorating noticeably.

John Lakin tells The Big Z the construction crews will fall under more scrutiny than if they were doing a so-called normal job.

There will also be upgrades to the 9-1-1 system coming soon.  While that is a separate project, the county’s 9-1-1 system is based at the jail, so similar security measures will have to be taken according to Lakin.  An exact start date for the project is not available.
