Getting expelled from the Illinois House is apparently not enough to kill a legislator's political future.  Former State Representative Derrick Smith (pictured) is leading his third-party opponent in a new poll of West Side voters despite being under federal indictment for allegedly accepting a seven-thousand-dollar cash bribe.

Smith leads 10th District Unity Party candidate Lance Tyson by a 48-percent-to-nine-percent margin in a recent We Ask America automated poll.  Smith was expelled by fellow House members after his indictment earlier this year.
