Illinois Department of Corrections officials say they’ve transferred Jared Carter to a maximum security prison.  Carter walked away from the minimum security Robinson Correctional Center last Friday and was on the run for four days.  He was captured while walking down the street in Palestine yesterday, about seven miles outside of Robinson.

Officials say Carter was taken and transferred back to Robinson for a medical exam and treatment to minor injuries he suffered before being captured.  Carter had a connection with the family of a student attending a school in Glen Carbon, and the Edwardsville School District sent home a letter notifying parents on Tuesday.  Carter was serving a 10 year sentence for burglary, residential burglary and theft.  Robinson is about 150 miles east of the River Bend, near the Indiana state line.
