An area lawmaker is hoping to beef up Illinois' Concealed Carry law. State Senator Sam McCann (R-Carlinville) is sponsoring several Second Amendment-related measures this year, including reciprocity, which allows concealed carry permit holders from other states to legally carry firearms in Illinois.

A second measure expands the list of approved areas where concealed carry is allowed in Illinois to include state and city parks. A third measure would do away with the state's Firearm Owner's ID, or FOID Card. All three bills are awaiting assignment to a Senate committee for a public hearing.
