The death of a man in Edwardsville on New Year's Eve was not the result of a fall.  20 year old Michael Heney of Chesterfield, Missouri, was found to have a large gash on his head and a broken nose as the result of the spill he took outside a home late Monday, but it did not cause his death.  The Madison County Coroner will now wait for results of an autopsy to determine an exact cause.

The Coroner reported earlier this week Heney was apparently standing at the back door of a residence and fell forward striking his head on the porch.  The report says Heney was first taken by friends to Anderson Express in Glen Carbon, but it was closed.  They then called 911 and Glen Carbon Rescue found Heney unresponsive and transported him to Anderson Hospital where he was pronounced dead around 11pm Monday.   Heney was a student at the University of Missouri.  Edwardsville Police have declined to comment on the case.
