Gov. Bruce Rauner has said he wants to increase education funding. He has donated a lot of money to educational pursuits over the years. Wednesday, in the budget address, he could explain how the state’s schools will see more.  The executive director of the Illinois Association of School Boards is looking forward to it.

“I’ve known Gov. Rauner’s passion for education for a long time, and I think it’s very, very sincere,” says Roger Eddy, “and we hope to work with him on trying to turn that sincerity into (fewer) mandates for schools (and) additional funding for schools. We understand the accountability that comes along with that funding. The devil has always been in the details here through the political process, so we just hope to help them work through the devil!”
Eddy used to be a Republican state representative and also used to be the school superintendent in Hutsonville. He, like many who voted for Rauner, is ready to hear something different.
