There is an e-cycling event being held Saturday at the Roxana Landfill from 7-11am. Allied Waste is partnering with E-Scrap Plus, a certified electronics recycling company from Belleville to offer the service. Electronic recycling has become more commonplace since the start of the year, when new regulations were put in place to keep the items out of Illinois' landfills.
In the past, computer monitors, TVs and printers were required to be recycled, but the new law now in place added items to the list, including keyboards, portable music devices, and scanners. Allied Waste's Manager of Business Development, Susan Piazza says occasionally, someone will try to throw a restricted item in with their regular garbage.
