Adult participation in recreational softball leagues have dropped off a little in Wood River, but youth sports registrations are on the rise.  Wood River Park and Recreation Director Jason Woody says the youth sports continue to benefit from being a part of a multi-city league.

He says there are 25 adult softball teams playing three nights a week.  He thinks that may be because of the various offerings in surrounding communities like Alton, Roxana, and Hartford.
