There have been some inquiries into the proposed sale of Eastgate Plaza, according to the East Alton mayor.  While there has been some speculation that it the property might eventually be leveled - at least in the parts that are not currently occupied - Mayor Joe Silkwood tells The Big Z it has a big selling point in what he describes as a great location.

The current owners have recently put a price tag of $1.5-million on the property.  Silkwood says putting a price on the property has begun to stir some interest from potential buyers, but nothing serious has begun to come together.  Julia’s Banquet Center, Dollar General and Eastgate Cinema are the only remaining businesses at the center.
