The state wide festival to promote education, recreation, and conservation of Illinois' waterways is coming to Alton's riverfront this Saturday, September 21. The Mississippi Earthtones Festival, formerly known as the "It's Our River Day" festival will be held at Riverfront Park from 12pm-11pm. Among the attractions will be an eco-village with earth-friendly products and services, and nature craft vendors.
The local Sierra Club has partnered with Alton Marketplace for the past several years to bring this event to Alton. The Sierra Club's Christine Favilla says the traditional river clean up will take volunteers to the islands, which may have extra debris because of the flooding this year. So, it's safety first.
Music runs most of the day, featuring Stone Sugar Shakedown, Blu Skies, and Aaron Kamm & the One Drops. You can learn more by following the link at this story at AltonDailyNews.com.
