Eagle watching will draw thousands of people to the Riverbend over the next couple of months to see what is normally a huge number of the majestic birds nesting in our area.  The Alton Regional Convention and Visitor's Bureau reports more than 50 have been spotted at the Two Rivers Natural Wildlife Refuge in Brussels, at least near Clifton Terrace on the Great River Road, and numerous other sightings along the Mississippi, Missouri and Illinois rivers.

Eagle watchers are a big part of the winter tourism economy, so the CVB's Brett Stawar says if you are searching for the majestic birds, you need to practice eagle-watching ettiquitte.

Stawar comments

The CVB has recently published a new eagle watching guide, touting the Riverbend's great location for eagle watching, with the confluence of the Mississippi, Missouri and Illinois Rivers.
