The Hayner Public Library District has a new executive director, four months after firing its old one.  Bernadette Duvernoy, who has worked for the library as a public relations and assistant director of marketing for a number of years, has been filling the spot left open by the firing of Jeffrey Owen.  This week, she was given the permanent position.

Duvernoy has overseen the implementation of the Illinois Heartland Library District over the last several months.  With the inclusion into the district, you can check out books not only from a library in the River Bend, but from one as far away as Peoria or Cardondale.    She says it's one of the largest collections in the United States:

Duvernoy is a frequent guest on Z-1570, touting the many programs offered by the Hayner Public Library District.  She has been employed by the district for nearly 20 years.
