The Senate's number-two Democrat is putting together a hearing on the NFL's bounty-gate scandal. Illinois U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, the assistant majority leader, said the hearing will be scheduled by the Senate Judiciary Committee. The hearing will examine whether bounty systems in pro sports should be made federal crimes.
The NFL imposed stiff penalties on the New Orleans Saints for organizing a bounty system that financially rewarded defensive players for taking out opposing players. Durbin called it a very disturbing practice.
