Citing the low yield on recent investments made by Madison County Treasurer Kurt Prenzler, County Board Chairman Alan Dunstan recommended hiring an independent firm to oversee the county’s investments. Dunstan presented his plan to the Finance Committee Wednesday morning.
Dunstan says Prenzler was present and asked if he would accept help from an advisor:

The committee approved Dunstan's plan by a vote of 6-0 and could begin interviewing firms by the end of this month. Dunstan’s plan also calls for the Finance Committee to take a more active role in the oversight of the county’s finances. He insists his plan was not politically motivated and says he wants to remove politics from this as much as possible and focus on doing what is best for the taxpayers of Madison County.
