A measure that would allow Illinois drivers to leave the scene of minor crashes and move to a safer location is headed to Governor Quinn's desk. Current law requires anyone involved in a wreck, no matter how minor, to stay at the site of the crash or return to it immediately if they cannot stop.

Representative Sidney Mathias says it's another step in keeping roads safe and keeping traffic flowing. The legislation applies to crashes involving only property damage, not personal injury.
