An Alton teen is dead a little more than a week after sustaining head and neck injuries in a rollover crash not far from Statehouse Square. 18-year-old Alexander M. Geisen of Hillcrest Avenue was driving a 1999 Jeep Cherokee that rolled just after 2am on September 30. Geisen died of his injuries Monday night.
Police say he was behind the wheel when the vehicle left the roadway in the 1000 block of Wallace Street. Alton Police Lieutenant Al Adams:
At the time of the crash, Geisen and another passenger, 18-year-old Kyle Ontis of the 300 block of Glover Street in Alton, were taken to a local hospital and then flown to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis following the crash. Two other passengers, also 18-year-olds, were treated and released. Funeral arrangements are pending.
