An Illinois State Police Trooper suffered minor injuries after his patrol car was hit by another vehicle in Meadowbrook on Sunday night.  The trooper, who was not identified, was taken to an Alton hospital for treatment and later released.  The driver, 23 year old Russell Romain, allegedly struck the trooper’s vehicle and fled.

The suspect’s vehicle was found a short time later a few blocks away and Romain was taken into custody without incident.  The collision took place around 10:30pm Sunday when authorities say Romain’s vehicle pulled out in front of the trooper near the Casey’s General Store on Illinois Route 140.  Romain was taken to the Madison County Jail and charged with driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to yield.
