The Alton chapter of the NAACP is getting in the holiday spirit by giving gifts to children in the Riverbend, but donations are needed to make it possible. The organization's annual Christmas Shopping spree will take place on Wednesday, December 2 at the Target store on Homer Adams Parkway.
President James Gray tells The Big Z he would like to spend up to $100 on each child.

In addition to the shopping spree, organizers are also putting the final touches on another give away scheduled for the following week. Gray says the NAACP will purchase new shoes for as many kids as possible at the Payless Shoe Store. Donations can be mailed to the Alton Branch of NAACP. Donations can be addressed to P.O. Box 1216, Alton, IL, 62002. If you have questions, call Gray at 618-304-7655.
