The ninth annual domestic violence memorial service at Alton Memorial Hospital is coming up Thursday.  From 5:30-7pm in the AMH Healing Garden, members of the community, families of domestic violence victims, school administrators, clergy, law enforcement, and state and local dignitaries are expected to attend.  Refreshments will be served.

Marcy Jacobs with the Oasis Women's Center, says featured speakers include Madison County Circuit Judge Richard Tognarelli, Judge Elizabeth Levy, Alton City Attorney Megan Williams, and Alton Police Chief Jake Simmons.

Jacobs comments

She says family violence kills as many women every five years as died in the entire 10 years of the Vietnam War.  If you need the services of the Oasis Women's Center, call 465-1978.
