A tax levy increase for the Alton School District is possible again this year, although the final numbers have not yet been established.  The School Board will establish the levy for 2014 at its December meeting.  District Director of Financial Services, Chris Norman says that residents shouldn't expect to see a major change in their tax bills.

Norman says that the levy is only an estimate, given to protect the district from losing money, should the EAV of property within the district increase by more than 5-percent.  The Madison County Clerk’s Office will set the levy and resulting property tax rate in the spring.
