Eight individuals have been selected to be the inaugural recipients of the Alton High School Distinguished Alumni award by a community-based committee. The accolade recognizes Alton High graduates who have contributed significantly to their community, achieved exceptional lifetime accomplishments, or exhibited  extraordinary leadership.

Former Alton High School Principal Barb Gillian was part of the committee that selected the honorees. She says this honor is different than being placed on the "Wall of Fame".

This year's recipients are James Gray, Rodney Caffey, Gregory Caffey, Brandon Caffey, Tom Caffey, Greg Bock, Robert Denby, and Latasha Le-Flore-Porter. Gillian says these honorees all reflect a common message, that dreams are achievable when an individual has a determined work ethic, behaves with integrity and displays strength of character.

The recipients will be honored during a banquet on May 21st at the Alton High School Commons. If you are interested in attending the event you are asked to RSVP by calling the Alton School District Administration Building at 474-2600.
