The SIU School of Dental Medicine in Alton will open the doors to kids between 3 and 13 this morning as part of Give Kids A Smile Day, sponsored by the American Dental Association.   Free dental care, including examinations, X-rays, cleanings, fillings and extractions, will be provided by faculty and students, members of the Madison and St. Clair district dental societies, and professionals and volunteers from the community.

Dr. Poonan Jain, Director of Community Dentistry at the school, says the hope is to stay busy all morning.

Jain comments

Give Kids a Smile Day runs today from 7:30 - noon, but Jain says they will not turn anyone away that is there in time.  She also says there is no need to show proof of income - they are operating on the honor system.
