People who think they are going to continue to get away from collecting public aid in the name of someone who has passed have another thing coming. Governor Bruce Rauner has signed legislation into law that deals with fraudulent death records. Many Illinoisans have collected public aid that was supposed to go to a person that was deceased.
House Bill 3311 requires the Department of Human Services to cross-reference the roster of public aid recipients with death records at least once per month. Republican State Rep. Dwight Kay of Glen Carbon says this is a major problem in Illinois.

Under the bill a public aid recipient who is found to have a death record shall be subject to an immediate cancellation of public aid benefits, including the deactivation of a LINK card.
