Thursday is the 61st annual National Day of Prayer, and public gatherings are scheduled across the country. The Rotary Club of the Riverbend will host an event tomorrow at 8am at Alton Square Mall. The event will feature representatives from several River Bend churches, local mayors, and businesses, who will gather to pray for the community.
Rotary Club president-elect Lori Ehlers, who is also manager of the mall, says they moved the event indoors last year, after many years at Lincoln Douglas Square:
The event at the mall should last about 30 minutes and is open to the public. Thursday night at seven, a National Day of Prayer event will be held at the Village Park in Bethalto at the bandstand. The first Thursday in May is designated as a time for the people of the United States to gather together in their own way and pray.
