Senators are expecting a procedural vote today on a House plan to extend funding past September 30th, when the government runs out of money. The House Republican legislation includes a provision defunding the Affordable Care Act. Illinois Congressman Rodney Davis, a Taylorville Republican, defends his vote to defund Obamacare.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid used words like "extremists," "fanatics" and "Tea Party anarchists" to describe Republicans who aim to defund Obamacare. He said it is not going to happen and warned that a government shutdown looms without a bipartisan compromise to extend spending. Davis joins other Republicans who argue Obamacare is deeply flawed and is hurting the economy.
