A local lawmaker likes the approach Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner is taking when it comes to dealing with the issues plaguing the state. State Representative C.D. Davidsmeyer (R-Jacksonville) tells The Big Z the state is dealing with a decade of overspending and that Governor’s not shying away from the issue.

The governor's budget proposal calls for $500-million to pay down the state's stack of unpaid bills and an increase in early childhood and K-12 education.  However it does not include any tax increases, but does offer major changes to state employee pensions, adds more corrections officers, and reduces higher education funding.
