The Alton Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau is again recognized as an industry leader, after picking up two more awards at this year's Illinois Governor's Conference on Tourism. The annual event, held last week in Rosemont, honored convention and visitor's bureaus from around the state. This year, the Alton CVB was tops in the Best Leisure Promotion and Best Visitor Guide categories.
Agency spokesman Suzanne Halbrook says the competition is getting tougher each year.
The 2012 Illinois Governor’s Conference on Tourism focused on "The Power of People and Travel," as a theme for demonstrating how the thriving tourism industry continues to be a key economic driver for the state. Awards were presented in twelve categories, in which more than 80 entries were judged by a panel of marketing professionals on clarity of message, creativity, originality and the project’s overall success.
