Local tourism officials are gearing up for the fall colors by telling any and all who will listen that the colors are spectacular. There had been some speculation that the colors would not be as good as normal due to the summer drought, but the late season rains have apparently done the trick, as the colors are starting to show themselves across the Riverbend.
This pleases Brett Stawar, President of the Alton Regional Convention and Visitor's Bureau:
The CVB website offers daily updates as to where you can find the best viewing. Peak time for the fall colors in the Riverbend is traditionally toward the end of October and even sometimes into the first week of November. For more information, call 465-6676, or go to www.visitalton.com
