If you’re traveling through Godfrey today, you’ll need to avoid the Alby Street railroad crossing.  Union Pacific Railroad handles the maintenance and upkeep of all four crossings in town, and will be shutting down the crossing on Alby Street at Humbert Road from 8am-6pm.  The closure, according to the subcontractor doing the work, is to make repairs.

The plan was originally to close the crossing with little notice on Tuesday, but after talks with Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick and the Alton School District, the company changed their plans to a day when all of the school busses that stay at the facility on Alby wouldn’t be in operation.
