Slick streets, icy parking lots, and snow blown sidewalks are all possible by this time tomorrow. Street crews around the Riverbend are at the ready, as some combination of freezing rain, sleet and snow is forecast, beginning overnight. In Godfrey, crews are pre-treating roadways today.
Maintenance Director Jim Lewis says the worst-case scenario would be an all ice event.
He reminds that not all roads going through Godfrey are maintained by the village. Humbert Road, for example, is a county road, while Delmar Avenue and Godfrey Road are cleared by IDOT. The village board voted to sell Beverly Farm about 15 tons of salt out of its surplus purchased with General Fund money. The board also approved a resolution seeking a PEP Grant through Madison County to help fund the construction of a new restroom facility at Glazebrook Park. Eight contractors attended yesterday's pre-bid meeting.
