Today could be a day of transition for area road crews.  After a couple of days with sub-zero temperatures making road clearing difficult at best, area highway departments plan to seize the opportunity offered by temperatures that are expected to reach 20 degrees Tuesday

And that will allow the salt and chemicals to regain some of their effectiveness, according to IDOT’s Joe Monroe.

He says it is important for motorists to realize that even though there has been substantial improvement on area highways, you still need to watch your speed, allow extra room for braking, and give the highway trucks plenty of room to maneuver.
