The waves of freezing rain and sleet that moved through the Riverbend today made a mess of the morning commute and continue to complicate the work of Ameren Illinois. Crews have been dispatched to the scene of a power outage that has affected approximately 3,400 residents in Macoupin County according to Ameren Illinois Spokesperson Brian Bretsch.
He says the most of the impacted customers live in Brighton, Bunker Hill and Wilsonville. Bretsch adds that crews have had trouble reaching the scene due to road conditions in the area. A cause of the outage has not been determined and at this time there is no estimated time of restoration.
