A robbery suspect remains at large following the hold up of the Laclede Community Credit Union in North Alton Monday afternoon. The lone male suspect walked into the business at noon, demanded money, and then fled on foot. The man escaped with an undetermined amount of cash and while no weapon was displayed, Alton police say he implied that he was armed. No one was injured.
This is the second time in about four months that location has been the target of thieves, having endured a similar occurrence in early October. Captain Scott Waldrup, acting Alton Police Chief, says after running about a block, the suspect hopped in a getaway car.
Authorities described this suspect as a black male in his late 20's wearing all black clothes, including a long black coat, and a black hat covering a long, curly wig. If you know anything about this robbery, call 463-3505 or the department's anonymous tip line at 465-5948.
