The 23nd annual Olde Alton Arts and Crafts Fair is set for this weekend at Alton High School. Nearly 200 crafters will have booths set up, displaying their wares for the public. Admission is $2 on Saturday and $1 on Sunday, with kids under 12 admitted for free. Breakfast will be served an hour before opening each day.
Saturday's fair runs from 9am-5pm, while Sunday hours are 10am-4pm. Proceeds from the event go to benefit Alton Band & Orchestra Builders. ABOB's Ed Gray says with the cost of instruments going up, this is a important fundraiser:
He says, for example, a tuba alone runs around $5,000. The fair will feature hand-made crafts or homemade food items. There will also be a drawing for a grocery store gift card on the upper level of the school. Parking is at the high school and is free with a shuttle bus taking visitors to the front doors of the school.
