Telemarketers could soon be charged 500-bucks every time they call people who are on the Do Not Call Registry. State Rep C.D. Davidsmeyer, a Jacksonville Republican, is behind the deal, which cracks down on the bothersome phone calls that come to people's cell phones.
The senate needs to approve a technical change before the bill is sent to Governor Quinn. Anyone who wants to get on the do-not-call list in Illinois can go to www.DoNotCall.gov or call 1-888-382-1222.
