Former Illinois Governor George Ryan has lost what is likely his last effort to have his corruption convictions overturned.  The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to hear Ryan's appeal, which was based on the court's interpretation of the law on "honest services" fraud.

Meanwhile, Ryan's friend and adviser, former Governor Jim Thompson says Ryan was within his rights to go to a Frankfort restaurant this weekend, despite being sentenced to home confinement in Kankakee.  Thompson says the rules allow a six-hour visit to a public place on either Saturday or Sunday each week.
