An Edwardsville couple will serve two years probation in connection with the drowning death of their son last year. 27 year old Thomas Pinski and 26 year old Emilie Pinski both pleaded guilty in Madison County Court to the charges they faced following the death of 2 year old Lukas Pinski at a small lake near Cherokee Trail in Edwardsville last May.
Lukas and his twin brother had apparently wandered away from their home when a neighbor found one of them in the water. Lukas was taken to St. Louis Children's Hospital where he died four days later. Emilie Pinski pleaded guilty felony Child Abandonment and to misdemeanor Endangering the Life or Health of a Child for allowing her child to be left unattended on multiple occasions without supervision. Thomas Pinski pleaded guilty to the same misdemeanor count. Although he was not present at the time of the incident, authorities say he allowed his children to live in unsafe conditions including trash, broken glass and human and animal feces. The couple's four other children, all under the age of 6, are in the custody of the state until it's determined it would be in their best interest to return to their parents.
