Plans to reconstruct a portion of Stamper Lane in Godfrey took a step forward Wednesday with the Madison County Board’s approval of a joint agreement between the County, Illinois Department of Transportation and the Village of Godfrey. The approved resolution allows the county to appropriate $162,500 from the Madison County Matching Tax Fund to finance its share of the project, which calls for the reconstruction of Stamper Lane from Pierce Lane to Godfrey Road.
The planned project includes the installation of full depth HMA pavement, storm sewers, curbs, gutters and sidewalks. County officials say the project will help facilitate traffic flow and ensure the safety of both pedestrians and the motoring public. The work will also include the addition of a new pedestrian trail that will connect the new ballfields to the rest of Glazebrook Park. The work should begin by next month.
