Heroin deaths and non-fatal overdoses continue to mount in Madison County, so a number of heads are being put together starting next week to try and figure out a new battle plan. A task force will bring together the county’s State’s Attorney, Sheriff, Coroner, members of local law enforcement, the U.S. Attorney, and addiction treatment providers.
Madison County Sheriff Bob Hertz says it is not possible to arrest our way out of the problem, so a multi-faceted approach is needed. One facet, he says, is education.
