The Madison County Board may eventually approve more than $6-million in repairs to the courthouse. The county's Buildings and Facilities Management Committee heard a proposal from a consulting firm this week outlining the possible upgrades, including an ambitious HVAC project.
Madison County Circuit Clerk Mark Von Nida tells The Big Z he thinks the upgrades are needed, suspecting a mold problem in the building.

Von Nida says the process of approving any upgrade is in the early stages, and suspects the Buildings and Facilities Management Committee will have to get together with the Finance Committee and pare the project down to a more affordable number. Other repairs and upgrades includes work to make the building more ADA compliant.
