A local declaration of disaster has been issued by Madison County Chairman Alan Dunstan.  The county's Emergency Management Agency director advised the chairman make the declaration, in an effort to help with flood-related issues. 

Madison County Chairman Alan Dunstan tells The Big Z if a statewide disaster is declared, he hopes this local declaration expedites the reimbursement process.

The Mississippi River is still predicted to crest at it's second highest recorded level later this week.  As a result, the Wood River Levee and Drainage District will be closing flood gates separating Alton and East Alton at Wood River Creek at 9:45am Tuesday until further notice.
