Plans are coming together for an upgrade to a portion of Shamrock Avenue in East Alton, and the Madison County Board is throwing its support behind the project. The board has agreed to pay up to 25% of the construction cost, which works out to about $133,500. The area is from the St. Louis Avenue intersection to 380’ north of Olin Industrial Drive.
East Alton’s Assistant Superintendent of Public Works Denny Weber says the county will often help out with matching funds for these types of projects.

Work on the road isn’t actually slated to begin for a while. The bid letting is scheduled for June of 2015.
