The official bicentennial anniversary for Madison County is September 14th, but county officials have kicked the celebration off early with the opening of the Madison County Bicentennial Exhibit at the Administration Building in Edwardsville.

County Board Chairman Alan Dunstan and other legislators toured the exhibit featuring historical and current photographs with descriptions of people and places in the county yesterday.

Chairman Dunstan says the exhibit isn't the only thing the county has planned to recognize this event.

Dunstan also says that the exhibit will be traveling to various homecoming celebrations and to the county fair over the next few months so that everyone in the county has a chance to learn more about the county. It will eventually become a permanent display in the Madison County Historical Society Museum

The parade and re-dedication of the centennial statue will take place in Edwardsville on September 15th.
