The Alton City Council is set to approve a new contract for the Police Benevolent and Protective Association Patrol union. Members of the union have agreed to a deal that is similar to previous ones, with a couple of notable changes. The Alton City Council followed suit and accepted the agreement last night.
Alton Mayor Brant Walker tells The Big Z there will be a lottery process for overtime sign up.

There will also be a committee to update the promotional process. Walker says the contract calls for a 1.5% raise for 2014 and 2015, and a 1.75% raise next year, and a 2% raise in 2017. The council was briefed on the new deal in closed session during its meeting this week, and will have a formal vote on it at its next meeting, February 25.
