The Alton City Council made quick work of a short agenda at last nights meeting. There was no Committee of the Whole Meeting on Monday and the action taken last night included the abolishment of four city groups, and approval of a bid for more curb and sidewalk replacement work.

The City Council voted 6-0 to abolish the Expo Commission, the Lincoln Douglas Debate Committee, the Sports and Entertainment Commission and the Nuisance Abatement Task Force. Most groups had not been active for several years, so the move was a formality. The Nuisance Abatement group name is still used by the city when the Police Department and Building and Zoning perform regular quality of life patrols around the city. Also last night, the city approved a bid of just over $50,000 from CSR Construction in Godfrey for curb and sidewalk replacement in downtown Alton.
