The completion of the Route 67 project between Godfrey and Delhi is progressing at a nice clip, but plans to open the corridor before the end of the year have been scrapped. The work north of Godfrey Village Hall is turning the narrow 2-lane road into a 4-lane expressway, but IDOT Engineer Joe Gasaway says the weather forecast has delayed what could have been an end of the year opening.
Gasaway reminds the area is still considered a work zone, with a speed limit of 45mph. You could be subject to a $375 ticket if you are caught speeding through the work zone. Cell phone use is also banned for drivers through work zones. You can find a link to IDOT's U.S. 67 page here: http://www.dot.state.il.us/us67/index.html
